Home Made Bread

It really is easy and cost effective to make your own bread, my friend Jen has been doing for ages in fact she came over and showed me how just the other day, Our you beaut bread maker stopped working properly so she taught me how to make it by hand and you know what it's heaps better than the bread maker ever made and so  easy.

Basic  Recipe from the Bread Flour Packet.
1. Mix 500g of bread Flour, 2 tsp ( 7g Sachet) of yeast in a large bowl, add 1 2/3 cup  of lukewarm water and mix together with a fork until all ingredients and well mixed and form a wet ball.

2. Lightly flour your work surface and hands then knead the dough for 8 minutes until soft and elastic, then allow to relax a couple minutes and then knead again for a couple more minutes.

3. Place dough into an oiled bowl, cover and leave in a warm dry place until dough has doubled in size about 1 hour.

4. Remove dough from container knead a couple of times on a floured board then shape into a loaf or cylinder oiled bread tin/container and let sit for another 45 minutes covered in a dry area.

5. Bake your bread at 220*c for 25-35 minutes until the crust is brown , smells terrific and sounds hollow when tapped, Allow to cool on a wire rack and enjoy with butter and Raspberry Jam like we did.

Enjoy :)

  1. Looks fabulous Simone - and you are right. Bread by hand is no comparison to the bread machine. It is so superior - more dense, more flavour. Makes me want to start measuring out the ingredients.
